Indian Blue Peafowl

The national bird of India is the Indian Blue Peafowl, or as most of you know it, a peacock. About 430 species of birds have been reliably recorded from the region of central India, representing 61 families, and 15 orders, of which 254 species breed while 104 species are winter migrants and with a few other vagrant species. One of the constraints on living to the Gond culture is a menace of birds which cause substantial damage to various crops at the time of harvest which result in huge losses and near starvation to the Gond people. The main species that harm survival or these people are species of: Parrots, Sparrows, Mynahs, Pigeons, and Peacocks. (Gee, isn't that funny how the national bird is a peacock/peafowl?? I guess the Gond don't support that political decision!).
